RAIN Alliance has recently published a RAIN sensitivity testing recommendation for testing and reporting the sensitivity of RAIN UHF readers. The document addresses the fact that the latest generation of RAIN UHF tags need such low power that reader receivers become the limiting factor in respect to the communication range. The reader receiver sensitivity testing will make it easier for the system integrator to choose the correct reader for their RFID setup. CISC RFID Xplorer based on a full configurable tag emulator allows measurement of reader transmit power and the reader receiver sensitivity through variable backscatter strength thereby in compliant to the outlined proposal.
