NXP Semiconductors received the Innovation Award by Magna Europe and ACstyria.
The winning product is UCODE DNA, which was honoured as the best product in the category ‘Connectivity & Electronics Innovations’.
For the third time, Magna Europe and ACstyria recognized companies that have distinguished themselves by their successful development of innovative solutions in the two categories ‘Connectivity & Electronics Innovations’ and ‘Logistics Innovations’. The innovation awards distinguish pioneers that have developed clear visionary and transformative technology. The innovation awards showcase what technology vendors have done to advance the potential of automotive applications and technology so that it can be used to drive better efficiency and productivity as well as the outcomes and performance of logistical processes.
The awards were presented during the Magna Logistics Days conference in Leibnitz, in southern Austria, where 200 delegates from both Magna’s European divisions and logistics providers gathered.
The awarded product – UCODE DNA – is the world’s first tag IC that offers long-range contactless UHF (ultra-high frequency) performance and cutting-edge security protection integrated in the chip’s hardware.
The tag IC is ideal for use in a wide variety of applications in the automotive industry, such as electronic road tolling, electronic vehicle registration, license plate authentication, access control, asset tracking and brand protection. With UCODE DNA, components of different products can be uniquely identified in a minimum of time as well as securely authenticated.
Furthermore, the jury appreciated that UCODE DNA reflects an enabling technology that accelerates the fourth industrial revolution – Industry 4.0.
