RAIN Alliance Highlights Digital Identity Traceability in Upcoming Tyres Masterclass

Taking place in Cleveland, Ohio between 19 – 20 May, the masterclass will outline how tyre lifecycle tracking and traceability enable better decisions at every touchpoint

20 April 2026RAIN Alliance will be hosting a comprehensive ‘RAIN Tags in Tyres’ masterclass in Cleveland, Ohio from 19 – 20 May. Facilitated by industry-leading experts alongside Host Sponsor Hana RFID, the interactive workshop will explore the technical challenges of embedding RAIN tags into tires, before moving into a discussion on how the integrated tags enable optimized lifecycle tracking and traceability to support better decision-making in both manufacturing and in active operations.

RAIN Alliance is a non-profit industry organization supporting the development and adoption of standards-based RAIN Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), otherwise known as Ultra High Frequency (UHF) RFID.

“The Tyres Masterclass forms part of the RAIN Alliance’s broader commitment to advancing industry understanding, fostering collaboration and supporting best practices for RAIN technology implementation,” comments Aileen Ryan, President and CEO of RAIN Alliance. “We are excited to bring together participants from across the tyres value chain to explore real-world use cases and implementation strategies for RAIN tags in tyres. Professionals across the entire tyre industry are welcome, as we explore how RAIN technology can create significant value and drive improved innovation, compliance and sustainability outcomes.”

The global tyres industry faces increasing pressure to improve traceability to meet evolving regulatory requirements and accelerate the transition towards more sustainable, circular economy models. RAIN technology is a foundational enabler of traceability throughout the entire lifecycle of a tyre from manufacturing and distribution through to use, retreading and end-of-life recycling.

The Masterclass will demonstrate to attendees how to use RAIN RFID to identify, locate, authenticate, and engage with each tyre, and easily access its core composition and origin data in support of the circular economy. It will also explore how RAIN technology in tyres is evolving beyond inventory accuracy, with digital twin data delivering rich, real-time insights that power advanced business analytics, unlock new service-based revenue streams, and create significant value across the tyre ecosystem.

Following this discussion on technical challenges associated with embedding RAIN tags into tyres, day two of the agenda emphasizes the value that tyre traceability can provide to ecosystem partners, with dedicated sessions on:

  • Fleet management, safety and compliance.
  • Tyre service accuracy and efficiency.
  • Re-treading and optimisation.
  • End of Life traceability and recycling.
  • Data access, identification and interoperability.
  • Practical, hands-on guidance on embedding RAIN tags at industrial scale.

“As the tyres ecosystem continues to develop, RAIN Alliance will continue to provide both its members and the wider community with vendor-neutral expert insight to help develop the next generation of tyre technology and ensure interoperability across the entire ecosystem,” Ryan added.

The RAIN Alliance Masterclass is collocated with the GDSO Founding Workshop. On 21 May, this workshop will explore commercial use cases and active pilots for tyre electronic identification in North America leveraging GDSO solutions.

The Tyres Masterclass series will continue later in the year with an event in Korea. To keep up to date with the latest on the upcoming Tyres Masterclasses and other RAIN Alliance Training Programs, please visit our website.
