AmerisourceBergen launched its RAIN Alliance partnership in 2021 with the introduction of the RFID tagging service. The program helps pharmacies eliminate the burden of manual tagging by providing pre-tagged product — freeing staff to focus more on patient care. Tags adhere to RAIN Alliance’s universal standards and can be read by any technology system, including commonly used kit and tray management solutions.

This technology-agnostic service is enabled through an open-source model that freely discloses the tag decoding information to any interested technology provider. The program, ultimately, enables tech innovators to develop and market RAIN RFID solutions throughout the healthcare system and aims to benefit patients everywhere.
