Kyoto Tool Co., Ltd. (KTC), a Japanese comprehensive hand tool manufacturer (Kyoto / CEO: Shigeru Tanaka / TOKYO: 5966), has jointly developed neprosID, a revolutionary line of IoT-connected tools, with Xerafy Singapore Pte Ltd. (Singapore / CEO: Alfred Wong / Xerafy), a leading manufacturer of industrial RFID tags. This groundbreaking tool line is set to transform tool management in the aerospace and MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) industries. neprosID has been nominated as a finalist for the “MRO Technology Achievement of the Year” at MRO Asia Pacific 2024!

This prestigious award, organized annually by the Aviation Week Network, the most influential multimedia information provider in the aerospace industry, recognizes excellence in nine categories related to the aerospace industry. While we did not secure the final win, we are honored that a product from a company newly entering the industry was nominated, highlighting the importance and innovation of neprosID in the aviation MRO sector.

neprosID was developed to address the critical issue of Foreign Object Debris (FOD), a major safety concern in the aircraft MRO industry. The product range includes sockets, ratchet handles, wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, and pliers—essential tools in maintenance work. In this sector, tools are managed meticulously to prevent FOD. RFID technology has long been considered effective for tool management, but traditional RFID tags often face issues such as detachment during use and difficulty in reading data, especially with small tools like sockets.

neprosID solves these challenges by incorporating the world’s first omnidirectional, high-performance RFID tag. Moreover, based on the high-end nepros tool line by KTC, these tools maintain ease of use while offering superior tracking capabilities. The system was recognized not only for its ability to prevent FOD but also for streamlining the tool management process, improving overall work efficiency with real-time tracking and automated inventory management.
