RAIN technology has proved highly effective and is increasingly used in many sectors. Consequently, the number of RAIN tags in circulation increases significantly every year. During inventory, it’s not uncommon to capture RAIN tags that don’t belong to your application. While this can be easily managed today, it will become a real problem over time. These unwanted “clutter” tags slow down inventory and, more problematically, prevent the capture of some interesting tags. At the same time, we are seeing more and more RAIN applications requiring RAIN tags to carry not only a unique identifier, but also additional information. How to focus on these tags and effectively capture this data is becoming a challenge. Based on lessons learned from over 10 years of deploying RAIN applications, a new Gen2v3 air interface protocol has been designed and recently released.
