ASYGN, a developer of high-performance integrated circuits, is proud to announce it has officially joined the RAIN Alliance.

As a key provider of RAIN RFID sensor chips that enable battery-free sensing applications, ASYGN’s membership marks a significant step in the evolution of the RAIN ecosystem, moving beyond simple identification to real-time environmental and structural intelligence.

RAIN Sensors: Enabling New Applications

ASYGN’s entry into the Alliance aligns with the activity of the Sensor Workgroup. This specialized workgroup focuses on standardizing and accelerating the adoption of RAIN RFID tags that can sense their environment (measuring temperature, strain, humidity, pressure, and more) without the need for an internal power source. For ASYGN, the Sensor Workgroup provides a collaborative framework to further integrate sensing capabilities into the global RAIN standard.

“Joining the RAIN Alliance, and specifically the Sensor Workgroup, was a natural progression for ASYGN,” said Stefano Bernabovi, Business Developer at ASYGN. “The industry is reaching a tipping point where ‘identifying’ an object is no longer enough; markets now demand to know the ‘state’ of that object. By collaborating with the Sensor Workgroup, we are helping to define the standards that will enable battery-free sensing to scale globally, opening up unprecedented opportunities for Industrial IoT.”

The integration of ASYGN’s sensing technology into the RAIN standard unlocks transformative applications across several high-growth markets, like Predictive Maintenance, Cold Chain & Food Safety, Structural Health, Agriculture, and more.

Strengthening the RAIN Ecosystem

ASYGN’s AS321X chip family already offers advanced sensitivity for battery-free sensing, while remaining fully compliant with RAIN infrastructures. By joining the Alliance, ASYGN will work alongside global leaders to ensure interoperability and to educate the market on the cost-saving and sustainability benefits of passive sensor technology.

“We are pleased to welcome ASYGN to the RAIN Alliance,” said Aileen Ryan, President and CEO of the RAIN Alliance. “Their experience in the semiconductor space and their focus on sensing capabilities bring a vital dimension to our community. As we look toward a future of trillions of connected objects, ASYGN’s expertise will support the development of smarter, more responsive environments.”
