The Tyres Workgroup is dedicated to making RAIN accessible and beneficial to the tire industry. This includes providing education on RAIN tag implementation, promoting the technology’s use for tire tracing, and supporting the industry with best practices and resources. Our members collaborate to achieve the workgroup’s goals through focused projects and initiatives.

Responsible for:
- Promoting the use of RAIN in the tyre industry through communication events and exploring synergies in the automotive industry.
- Creating education materials on ISO standards implementation, RAIN tyre applications, technology benefits, future technology evolution, and standards assessment.

RAIN RFID-Based Tire Tracking System for Fleet Management:
Tires are among the most critical and cost-intensive consumables in fleet operations, accounting for 5–20% of total operating costs in commercial logistics fleets depending on geographical zones in the world. Inefficient tyre lifecycle management results in premature failures, safety risks, increased fuel consumption, cash flow challenges, and environmental waste. With the emergence of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) regulations, Digital Product Passports (DPP), and smart-fleet digitalization, tire traceability has become both a regulatory and operational necessity. Tire traceability also offers opportunities to fleets for operational cost optimization
This project will deliver a paper presenting a comprehensive RAIN RFID-based tire tracking system architecture, operational framework, compliance alignment, value proposition, and financial return-on-investment (ROI) model. The document is intended for fleet managers, industry adoption, enterprise implementation and academic research.

RAIN Alliance members interested in learning, sharing, and implementing RAIN knowledge to ensure effective, efficient, and interoperable use of RAIN technology within the tire industry.
Level of dedication:
There are different levels of dedication depending on the role participants choose to take on. Engagement can range from participating in discussions and reviewing guidelines to contributing text for guidelines. High levels of commitment are needed for roles such as editors for guides and papers, often requiring 1-2 hours per week until deliverables are complete.
