• Global leading congress on RAIN RFID technology will be held in Spain for the first time from September 29 to October 1, 2026
  • Fashion, cosmetics, food and logistics are leading the growth of a technology that already accounts for more than 42.7 billion RFID chips shipped worldwide each year

Valencia, 1 September 2026. RAIN in Action, the leading global event dedicated to RAIN technology, will hold its first edition in Madrid in 2026, following previous editions in Florence in 2024 and Amsterdam in 2025. The choice of the Spanish capital places Madrid on the European RAIN RFID innovation map and reflects the growing interest among retailers, manufacturers and logistics operators in a technology that is increasingly present in inventory management, traceability and the digitalization of operations.

From September 29 to October 1, the congress will bring together semiconductors, RAIN RFID tag and reader manufacturers, software providers, technology integrators, retailers, consumer brands and logistics operators to share use cases, technology architectures and trends that are redefining how companies manage products, assets and goods across the entire supply chain.

Companies taking part in the programme include internationally renowned organizations such as VF Corporation, JD Sports, IKEA, H&M, Intersport, UPS, Primark and Michelin, which will share real-world experiences of adopting and scaling RAIN technology in store environments, distribution centers and global logistics operations.

Aileen Ryan, President & CEO of RAIN Alliance, says that holding RAIN in Action in Madrid “reflects Spain’s growing role within the European RAIN RFID ecosystem. We are seeing more and more industries use this technology to improve operational visibility, optimize processes and make decisions based on reliable, real-time data”

According to RAIN Alliance data, 42.7 billion RAIN RFID tag chips were shipped worldwide in 2025, a figure that confirms the maturity of a technology that has evolved from pilot projects to large-scale deployments across sectors such as retail, logistics, industry, healthcare and food.

In Spain, this evolution is reflected in a growing number of projects in fashion retail, where item-level RFID helps improve inventory accuracy, enable smart replenishment and support omnichannel strategies. In cosmetics, fragrances and personal care, traceability, product authentication and distribution control have become key drivers for the adoption of these solutions. In food, regulatory requirements, shelf-life control and intralogistics efficiency are accelerating their integration into warehouse, transport and point-of-sale processes.

From identification to data consistency

For years, RAIN RFID has been applied at different levels of the supply chain to address operational needs related to intralogistics visibility, inventory accuracy, goods consolidation and traceability. The current trend, which will feature prominently on the RAIN in Action 2026 agenda, goes one step further: it is no longer focused solely on which items to tag, but on how to coherently connect the information generated at each operational level.

In this new scenario, RAIN RFID is no longer understood merely as an identification technology, but as an enabler of reliable, connected data. The goal is to ensure that the information supporting every logistics movement, replenishment process or shipment accurately reflects what is really happening in the warehouse, distribution center or store.

RFID-specialized technology companies such as Spain-based Clustag have been driving this integrated vision for years. Data from items, cases and pallets no longer operates as independent layers but becomes part of a single system capable of providing context, validation and consistency across the entire operation.

As Manolo Reguart, CEO of Clustag, explains, RFID “has proven its value at every level of the supply chain. The next step is to connect all that information to build a single, reliable view of the operation. When data from items, cases and pallets works in an integrated way, companies can automate processes, reduce errors and make decisions with greater agility and confidence.”

A practical experience beyond the congress

As a complement to the congress sessions, the RAIN in Action organization has scheduled an additional invitation-only day for selected attendees. This activity will offer first-hand insight into real-world applications of the technology in an operational environment.

In collaboration with Clustag, participants will visit the company’s Customer Experience Center, where they will be able to observe different automation, traceability and intralogistics scenarios based on RAIN RFID technology and explore how these solutions are integrated into real warehouse, distribution and goods management processes.

The initiative aims to give retailers, brands and logistics operators a practical view of the possibilities offered by intelligent identification beyond the congress sessions and presentations.
